1.) Build Your Immune System
A practical way to look out for your health this winter would be to build your immune system. You can do this by eating certain foods, which you’ll find listed here.
• Garlic: Eating garlic is a great way to build your immune system as it’s an antimicrobial agent and immune booster. You should note, however, that heat can deactivate a key ingredient, so it’s best to add it to your food just before serving.
• Cinnamon: Another idea for an immune system building food to try is cinnamon. You can sprinkle it in your hot chocolate or tea as it reduces bacteria’s ability to multiply.
• Oranges: Whether you decide to freshly squeeze oranges or eat them with breakfast, they’re another great food for your immune system. This is because they contain all of the Vitamin C you need.
2.) Keep Your Hands Clean
As mentioned earlier, during the winter, so many people end up with the flu or a cold because of the spread of germs. To avoid this, remember to practice sanitation and keep things germ free. To prevent germs from spreading, keep your kitchen and toilets clean by using hot water and soap or disinfectant. Don’t forget to carry a hand sanitizer with you in your bag and wash your hands before eating and after going to the toilet.
3.) Watch Out for Symptoms
If you do get the flu, remember that it doesn’t have to last so long if you understand how to treat it. Drink enough fluids, get enough rest and consume some of the immune system building foods mentioned above. Another way you can treat yourself would be by getting IV hydration therapy from Reset IV. This should give you a mix of nutrients, medication, and fluids to help you recover quickly.
4.) Get Vaccinated
The last tip for looking after yourself during winter would be to get vaccinated. This is especially advised if you’re over 65, pregnant or have a health condition as you could experience the flu more severely. If you visit your GP, they should notify you when they’re giving out vaccines, but it’s usually from September into later months of the winter. You should note that a vaccine against the flu is only valid for the year you use it. The flu vaccination also doesn’t prevent you from getting coughs or colds, so keep that in mind as well.
