This comedy sketch is about a girl who ends up on a date with another girl (LGBT) love. Things go a little bit wrong though when Bad Date Girl turns up wearing a costume. She got a little confused and then terribly embarrassed. What's the most embarrassing date you've been on? Also, were you the one to make it embarrassing or was it the other person? I feel like I'm kinda always embarrassing myself. Yesterday, I accidentally walked into the men's toilets. There were men everywhere and I just stood there, not fully understanding what was happening. The worst part was that I went and did exactly the same thing the next day. I'll never learn.
I, Rosa Fairfield, play both characters in this sketch. Oh my goodness, that's so self-centered! No, it was never really my intention to play both characters. I just couldn't get anyone to do this one with me. No one even wants to fake date me. What can a girl do?
I had a lot of fun playing two characters in one scene though. I mean it was a lot more work, but still lots of fun. Also, I really wanted to have a go at playing a stereotypical kinda stuck-up socialite. I was writing the script and I had so many different ideas for the character. I just love playing those unique people that kinda stand-out from the crowd.
I have to say though, it was kinda weird filming this because I was just having a one sided conversation. I kinda had to imagine I was hearing the other character talking in my head. I got used to it after a while and there's a few more of these coming soon where I play multiple characters too. There's even a X-Files one that I'm really looking forward to.
I've been experimenting a lot with using animation and pointing out mistakes. I told someone what I was doing and they were like, 'no, why would you want to draw people's attention to the things you've done wrong'. I don't know, I think it's interesting... like, yep, I know this video isn't perfect. Maybe that's just me though, I do have some kinda low self-estem thing going on.
I'm trying to experiment with timing too, I like working to different rhythms and I try to pay attention to that when I'm editing too. As a socially awkward person, these characters are ending up looking a bit awkward. That wasn't intentional though, it just kinda happened.
Thank-you for humoring me and my artistic side. The sketch show is on every Friday 6:30 GMT, 1:30 EST.10:30 PST. Enjoy the show... or... I hope you do.
