Backpacks, backpacks, backpacks... here's my top 5 styling tips to make you backpack ready because ,you know, bags tend to be one of the most important things you buy. That's why you want to invest in something of good quality like this one from Gaston Luga, Stockholm. The last thing you want is that embarrassing moment where your bag breaks and you're left scrambling around in the street trying to pick up your things, by Rosa Fairfield.

I have a thing for backpacks lately, if you have a lot of stuff to carry around, it's a convenient way of doing so without breaking your shoulder. This backpack has a sophisticated "adult" feel to it but also has a pop of colour, which adds a bit of fun. As a little tip, I'd recommend purchasing a lint roller, as the fibres from your clothing end up attaching themselves to the bag. Anyway, here's some styling suggestions (whoop, I managed to get a bit of alliteration in there).
The Preppy Look
I think a backpack works particularly well with a preppy vibe. This can be very traditional with a cute, jumper over a shirt and a camel coat... I think the preppy look works particularly well if you want a chic smart-casual vibe, whether you're having a meeting over coffee and need to appear like you're actually an adult (even if secretly you still feel like a kid and would rather be jumping on the tables).
Matching Colours
This sounds very obvious, but a great way to tie a bag in with an outfit is to look at the colours. When you're choosing which one to buy, something to bear in mind is what colours you often wear so you know that it won't clash with your outfits. Especially pay attention to the coats you own as the backpack normally will sit on top of this.
Off-The-Shoulder
This is just a me one. I always tend to carry my backpack on one shoulder, it feels more comfortable this way and gives you something to do with your hands. Plus, I always think that the 'regular' way of wearing the backpack looks a bit too wholesome and I like to express (my kinda non-existent) rebellious side.
The Oversized Bag
Size seems to have become an important pointer in choosing bags lately, both the oversized and micro-bag look have become popular. This one is definitely of the oversized variety. Extremes of size tend to make a statement. I also have to say that a larger bag is practical to have. I'm always heading out on day trips for auditions and it's a lifesaver to have the space to carry around a change of shoes and a water bottle.
Keep It Fun
So, finally we come to what I was hoping to achieve. I think people tend to stay away from cutesy and colour when it comes to backpack outfits for the fear of looking childish. It's kind of freeing though to just be bold... and it helps to keep all the judgemental people away.
So, that's that then, some various notes on how to wear a backpack.
